Museums on Pinterest

Amidst all the hullabaloo surrounding Mark Zuckerberg’s acquisition of Instagram for $1 Billion, the rise and rise of Pinterest has been somewhat overlooked. Pinterest is now the third most popular social network site in the US, overtaking LinkedIn, Google+, MySpace etc. A staggering feat considering it was launched little more than two years ago.

A quick Google search shows that the top ten museums on Pinterest – measured by ‘quality of boards, user following, and distinctive creative approaches’ – are predominantly US based. In the UK, the Design Museum and Tate Gallery both use Pinterest in very interesting, but different ways.

  1. It’s also worth mentioning that the London Transport Museum has a strong presence on Pinterest. They have been posting images of their vast poster collection for a while now…
