Do you ever wander round a gallery quite happily but when it comes to the end of the exhibition find yourself stuck for words? Others seem to be saying something really insightful to their companion. But all you can think of is that ‘Blinky’ is a funny name for a post-war German artist. Or that the sketches on display bored you whereas the text panels were worth the entry fee alone.
Well, you’re not alone! I’m interested in art galleries and museums (and everything inside them) but didn’t study art history or museum studies at university. I’m interested in hearing your reactions, as pretentious or mundane as you like, to an exhibition you’ve visited.
The catch? You’ve got very limited space in which to express your thoughts. Four/five tweets max.
Why? Because I find once I’ve waded through an entire exhibition review in a newspaper or online publication, it can usually be boiled down to a couple of key points anyway. I read reviews to gauge what the exhibition is roughly about and whether or not it is likely to strike a chord with me. No more, no less.
So if you fancy writing a micro-review, please get in touch.
